Our Work Areas
The working groups are the instruments of our action!
Flanders Metals Valley focusses on concrete topics and concerns in the sector’s evolution towards its goal of a climate neutral circular industry. Our members deliver these topics in which we are active and set up initiatives and actions together.
Our organisation has gathered these topics within 3 working groups: Innovation, Education and Communication.
Innovation
The working group Innovation groups the scientific actions and plans of Flanders Metals Valley.
This working group has the goals to …
- Identify common technical challenges which are specific for the metals industry
- Identify the gaps and solutions in the circular value chain
- Promote collaboration between FMV members about very concrete projects
Education
As the metallurgical industry is dealing with a lot of job vacancies, Flanders Metals Valley has created the working group “Education” to enthusiasm pupils and students by cooperating with
- Primary, secondary and academic / professional education
- STEM academies
- VLAIO projects & subsidized partnerships
We also organize job events at universities named “Flanders Metals Valley Industry Nights” and we bring offer and demand together for students and companies around internships.
Communication
The metallurgical industry in Flanders and Belgium has a strong history. Because of this long historical background , our industry is sometimes perceived as stemming from the past, being polluting or not being innovative.
With our working group communication we aim to shake off this old image and thus motivate talents to invest themselves in our network and constructively create a better future. This working group also focusses on giving a clear overview of what is going on in Flanders and how this circular economy can exist here.
We hereby give a clear overview of the innovations which our members and our industry have already realised and what is still to come.
