Flanders Metals Valley successfully launches inaugural FMV Industry Night at VUB
Flanders Metals Valley (FMV) proudly hosted its first FMV Industry Night at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) last week, marking a significant step in connecting emerging talent with leading companies in the metals, materials and engineering sector. The event brought together master’s and PhD students from VUB and ULB, specializing in engineering, chemistry, materials science, and civil engineering, with representatives from six prominent companies from the Belgian Metals ecosystem.
Engaging the Next Generation of Industry Leaders
The evening began with a series of compelling presentations from John Cockerill, Victor Buyck Steel Constructions, InsPyro, Aurubis, Aluminium Duffel, and CRM Group. Each company showcased its innovative projects, career opportunities, and commitment to sustainability and technological advancement. The goal was clear: to inspire students and highlight the diverse and rewarding career paths available within the metals and materials industry.
Networking and Collaboration
Following the presentations, attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with company representatives during a networking reception. This informal setting allowed students to discuss internships, graduate programs, and job openings, fostering meaningful connections between academia and industry. With nearly 80 participants, the event was a resounding success, reflecting the strong interest and enthusiasm among the next generation of professionals.
