FMV Education: Industry meets STEM

On April 30th, we had an amazing time hosting professionals from the metals industry and the world of STEM education at Technopolis in Mechelen!

We were thrilled to have speakers from Aperam, Umicore, Aurubis, and Finocas. They shared some fantastic insights into how their companies collaborate with local STEM schools, providing unique perspectives and great examples for others in the industry.

Ruben Gielen from Aperam and Frederik Verhaeghe from Umicore teamed up with PXL and Thomas More College, respectively, giving students the chance to work on digital and miniature robotic environments for logistics and production processes. Katrien Mesuere from Finocas wowed us with their philosophy and collaboration opportunities, while Valerie Peeraer from Aurubis impressed us with their regional ecosystem involving industries, SMEs, schools, and government entities—all working together to boost STEM collaborations.

After the presentations, a lively debate sparked among the participants, followed by a cozy and casual networking drink at the inspiring Technopolis meeting center. It was a blast!
