Successful FMV Seminar on Scrap

Yesterday, we proudly held a fully booked seminar focused on the vital topic of scrap recycling, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome. Our event took place in Brussels, at the elegant offices of McKinsey, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to them for being such gracious hosts, and in particular to mr. Dirk Durinck for helping this event turn into a great success.

The seminar featured an incredible lineup of distinguished speakers who brought their expertise to the forefront. Mr. Jean-Christophe Pierret, Program Leader for Circular Steelmaking at CRM, opened the afternoon with his insightful talk titled “Evolution in Steel Scrap Recycling for a Sustainable Tomorrow.” His presentation set the tone for the day, highlighting the importance of innovative recycling practices.

Next, we heard from Mr. Diedrik Tas and Mr. Steven Vercammen from McKinsey, who presented “Circularity in Metals – A European Scrap Perspective.” Their insights on the European landscape of metal recycling provided a valuable context for the audience.

Finally, Mr. Jimmy De Wilde from Aperam shared his thoughts on “Circular Economy At the Heart of Aperam’s Strategy.” His perspective underscored the role of circular economy principles in shaping sustainable business practices within the steel industry.

The speakers were met with enthusiastic engagement from the audience, who posed numerous questions during the Q&A sessions. This interaction not only enriched the discussions but also demonstrated the audience’s keen interest in the topic.

After the presentations, guests had the opportunity to network over drinks, fostering connections that are vital for collaboration in this important field. The vibrant atmosphere was a testament to the event’s success and the relevance of its theme.

We are incredibly grateful to our speakers for sharing their knowledge and to McKinsey for providing such a wonderful venue. This seminar was not just an event but a significant step towards promoting sustainability in scrap recycling. We look forward to continuing these important conversations in the future!
